National Merit Cum Means Scholarship (NMMS) 2016: Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) of Govt. of India has published a notification regarding National Merit Cum Means Scholarship for 2016. Initially the Scholarship scheme was launched in May, 2008 & evaluated time to time. The main objective of the Scheme is to award scholarship money to meritorious students, those are belong to the economically weaker Section of the Society, so that they can continue their Higher Education in a flawless manner.

Eligibility Criteria for Online Application to National Merit Cum Means Scholarship (NMMS) 2016
Family Income (per annum):
Students whose parental income from all sources is not more than Rs. 1,50,000/- per annum are eligible to avail the Scholarship scheme.
Disbursement of Scholarship Amount:
Scholarship of Rs. 500/- per month per student is awarded to selected students every year in classes from IX to XII in Government, Government aided and local body school. The maximum amount of Scholarship is proposed to be Rs. 6,000/- per annum.
Selection Process:
The Selection of Students for the scholarship is being paid through an Common examination conducted by the State Government/ Union Territory administration along-with the National Talent Search Examination (NTSE).
Final Selection of the candidates will be made in the following manner –
Mental Ability Test (MAT): MAT consist of 90 multiple-choice questions testing verbal and non-verbal meta- cognitive abilities like reasoning and critical thinking. The questions in the test may be on analogy, classification, numerical series, pattern perception, hidden figures etc.
Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT): SAT consist of 90 multiple-choice questions covering subjects namely, science, social studies and mathematics as taught in classes VII and VIII.
